Frequently Asked Questions

Why Sierra One Training Objectives?

Sierra One is a call sign I’ve used and SOTO is a tribute to my awesome wife.

What Training Venues do you use?

Venues will typically be in the LA/OC/Riverside area, but can vary based on host needs.

Why only le classes?

Currently, the primary focus is to help law enforcement raise the standard for marksmanship. Open enrollment may be considered in the future.

What are class sizes and will you provide custom courses?

At this time, class sizes will be limited to 10 shooters in order to provide the best attention to individuals based on their personal needs. Specific courses (Pistol Mounted Optics, LE Competitive Shooting, LE Firearm Instructor Update) can also be created.

How good do i need to be to start shooting competition?

Don’t wait, just start. If you wait until you’re “good enough” to start anything, then why bother going to the gym, playing golf, or trying anything else? Get out there, be attentive, be safe. You’ll learn an incredible amount just by showing up! Local competitions have some of the most helpful people I’ve met. They’ll often let you try their gear and guide you through it.

what equipment do you use?

Equipment is always a hot topic. I try to use gear that is simple and robust.

Duty - Glock 17, Holosun 507x-C2, Surefire X300 Turbo, Haley D3 belt/pouches, Safariland holster

Competition - Glock 17 Gen 5, Tactical Trigger connector, CHPWS brass weight, Holosun 507 Comp, DAA ratchet belt and mag pouches, BSPS Baller/Boss hanger, GX holster
